Equity traders are responsible for buying and selling stocks, bonds, commodities, or other financial instruments. They may work on the floor of an exchange (such as the New York Stock Exchange), in a brokerage firm’s trading room, or remotely via computer terminals.

Equity traders must be able to quickly analyse market trends and make split-second decisions about when to buy or sell. They also need to have strong interpersonal skills—they interact with clients all day long to determine what trades they want to make.
